Petition Masters Website
Developed a full-stack web application with an Express.js RESTful API backend and a React-based frontend. Implemented robust CRUD operations to manage users, petitions, and images. Designed an intuitive user interface enabling seamless registration, login/logout, petition browsing with filters, petition creation, support for other petitions, and editing or deletion functionality.
Sentiment Analysis of Financial Markets
Applied advanced machine learning by fine-tuning the FinBERT model to classify financial news sentiment as positive, neutral, or negative. Utilized Beautiful Soup for web scraping stock market headlines and applied the trained model for real-time sentiment analysis. Achieved 86% accuracy and F1 score, offering actionable insights for financial decision-making and market trend evaluation.
Football Manager Game
Developed a Java Swing-based GUI application allowing players to manage football teams, trade players, use in-game items, and compete against AI to earn points. Collaborated in a team using Git for version control, delivering a dynamic and interactive gameplay experience.
Rock, Paper, Scissors Embedded Systems Game
Programmed a Rock-Paper-Scissors game for a UCFK device using an ATmega32U processor and a 5x7 LED display. Implemented infrared (IR) communication for multiplayer interactions, enhancing collaborative and engaging gameplay.
Flappy Elon Musk Game
In this fun and challenging take on the original 'Flappy Bird' game, you control Elon Musk as he navigates through an ever-changing series of obstacles, including Tesla cars and Cybertrucks. Using Python’s Pygame library, I’ve created a dynamic, interactive experience that features smooth animations, a jumping Elon with mouth animations, and an engaging game loop. The goal is simple: jump to avoid obstacles and score points by getting through the gaps between them.
Interactive Loan Widget
This is a responsive, web-based loan calculator built with Rust and WebAssembly (WASM). It allows users to dynamically explore monthly payments, total interest, and amortization schedules based on customizable inputs like loan amount, interest rate, and term. The UI updates in real time and includes visual breakdowns powered by Chart.js, offering a seamless and interactive user experience.
SwapBytes – P2P File Swapping App
SwapBytes is a decentralized file sharing and messaging application built in Rust using the libp2p library. It enables users on the same local network to discover each other and share files or messages through themed rooms or direct communication. Key features include multi-room support, automatic peer discovery via mDNS, customisable nicknames, and command-line interaction for offering and requesting files in real time.

Hi, I’m Shyam Hari — I like building things with code and solving real-world problems through tech. I’m currently doing my Master’s in Computer Science at the University of Canterbury, after finishing a BSc in Computer Science and Finance. Along the way, I’ve worked on a bunch of hands-on projects and internships in software engineering, machine learning, and UI/UX design. I enjoy working on things that are both technically challenging and genuinely useful. Outside of tech, I’m into financial markets, play the saxophone and piano, and try to squeeze in a round of golf each week.
